Having a car as a personal transportation is a wonderful things. Traveling with the family wherever is possible. But what if the car suddenly strike, the engine did not want to start, whether during the first starting, hard to work while on the road, as well as speeding the engine suddenly strike? No matter, it was a new car or old (eg honda civic '77, like mine), strike sometimes we come across (though much more common in old cars, knowing the machine was old and spare parts). Now, before calling a mechanic to fix it, probably know the car tips from my experience with the following Civic'77 useful.
There are 3 main components in car engines: 1) Power supply by batteries and high voltage converter by a coil, 2) ignition components: distributor, platinum and spark plugs, and 3) supplai petrol / gasoline: carburetor, fuel pump. So, if the engine did not want to live, these 3 components need to be check. It's in my car Civic'77, maybe in another machine is slightly different.
Power Supply
Batteries provide power to the car on first turned on. The coil voltage of 12 Volt battery will be increased to tens of thousands of volts. Voltage is distributed by the distributor and distributor to the spark plugs for ignition. Machine would be difficult to live if there is a problem with this battery and coil. Indication of a problem is when the engine distarter seemed hard to 'lift', slow timing wheel. People say the battery 'overdrawn'. The coil is rarely got a problem, except in connection wires to the distributor, the voltage source and condenser are loose or disconnected. Tighten bolts and connection cables such coil. I have experienced, the machine can not live because of the small wire from the coil to the condenser was broken on the inside, um, and after the cord is replaced, the engine was 'smooth'.
Concentration to the battery, there are 2 possibilities with battery: 1) stun or less ( 'overdrawn'), and 2) connections on the head or a loose battery corrosion in the head battery. Try this to fix it:
1. tighten the bolts in the head battery, if necessary clean the battery with the first head of hot water, let the dirt away. use hammer and knock, hehehe, like advertising videos, just a joke. If the wheels are able to fast timing, the problem was solved with battery
2. Apparently battery overdrawn, less electrified, after tightening the bolt timing wheel still spinning slowly, and the engine is still difficult to lift. Charging please.... waw ... the workshop is far man. Can be overcome with a car battery in parallel with those, either neighbors or the other driver when in the middle of the road, (certainly borrow first). Try running the engine, if you can walk, while the battery disconnect fire engine that person, let our batteries charged before the magneto. Allow up to about 5 minutes, turn off the car and try to turn on again. If you can not lift, there is a problem with our dynamo, can not charge the battery. borrow more accumulator, and repair in the dynamo reparation... hehehe
Ignition Components
In my car, ignition component consisting of a distributor, platinum and spark plugs. There is one more condenser, it is possible to save before voltage is applied to platinum. For the CDI system / IDI, not yet understand how to work exactly, but probably similar. Indication of timing problems is fast lap (a sign of a good battery and coil), but the engine did not want to live, or want to live but crippled and die again.
All you need to do is:
1. Check the output voltage of the coil (input to the distributor). Open the cable, the engine stater and bring to the masses. If a spark, there is no problem with the coil output
2. Check the spark plugs. Open and clean, or if necessary clean it with sandpaper. Machine could be crippled because one dirty spark plugs or die. Replace the spark plugs and make sure the cable is connected properly at the head of distributor
3. Open the distributor cap and check whether the platinum surface dirt or worn. Clean up with sandpaper if necessary. Replace if it is clean
4. Make sure all cables that connect the distributor with a condenser, spark plugs, spark plug and coil connected really well
Fuel Components
This component supplies the fuel / petrol for ignition. From the petrol tank, fuel pump station into the carburetor. In the carburetor, fuel and air mixture is injected into the ignition to drive the engine (piston). So, what needs to be examined is the carburetor and gas stations. Carburetor flooding (mostly gasoline) or gasoline shortages will cause the engine did not want to work.
Carburetor settings are not good, sometimes can make the gasoline carburetor excess (floods). This can cause the engine hard to start up. Try to open the air filter on the carburetor, the carburetor is flooding or not. If it flooding, let it open a while. And relive the engine without the accelerator or stepping on a deep (without shaking) and turn on the machine. Once the machine work, release the gas pedal.
Clogged gasoline Supplai will also cause the engine problem, how will it work, no gasoline petrol... Strike is happening because the flow of gasoline that is not smooth can happen either when the first engine in the start, as well as enjoying speeding engine suddenly strike, because of lack of supply of gasoline. there are 2 problems associated with gas flow : 1) a dirty carburetor, and 2) the gas station is not perfect / worn / damaged.
Lack of fuel for dirty carburetor can be overcome, started the engine with the carburetor while the hole closed. How to do is open the air filter, cover the top hole with the palm of the hand, and ask someone else to started the engine. Gasoline would be suck from the tank into the carburetor. If it is work, that's a problem with carburetor, it need to be serviced.
I was once driving a car, while move on 50-60km/hours engine suddenly strike. Indicators of gasoline in the position is filled. Checked the battery and the ignition there is no problem. With gasoline sucking closing the carburetor by hand, problem solved. drive a few yards, strike again. Whoa, what's this. One forgotten, gasoline pumps. Ever seen public transport strike, then the driver knocking gas pump with a screwdriver or wrench, and a car start again. Mmm .. the valve of gas pump can also worn out, so it can not work properly. Please check whether the gas pump is still functioning or not. Disconnect the gas pipe leading to the carburetor, and turn on the ignition key. If the gas can flow, means there is no problem with the gas pump. Try to turn on the machine.
If, from the third way, the engine still want to go out, try to find a mechanic ...: D. Happy traveling ...
